FC Brasov

FC Brasov with roots back to 1914 is owned by the firm FC Brasov SA, which in turn is owned by Prescon SA.

Prescon owner Ioan Neculaie, whose estimated wealth is $200 million US, has run into problems with the Romanian justice system. In 2006 prosecutors from the Brasov Organized Crime unit charged him with first-degree fraud, money laundering and abuse in the takeover of a local industrial park. The money laundering charge has been dropped but the investigation continues.

Dinu Gheorghe, known as “Dinu” or “Customs”, is CEO of the club. He was president of Rapid Bucharest club until he quit in 2006. His nickname comes from his year as head of the Romanian General Customs Directorate. He left that post in 2001 after former Romanian President Ion Iliescu publicly accused Customs of missing drugs trafficked into the country with fruit and vegetables.
