US: 39 Gang Members Arrested

Thirty-nine people, most members or affiliates of the Bloods gang, were arrest in Staten Island by New York City police, according to a, a press release from the Richmond County District Attorney.

Over 16-months undercover officers in Operation Mayberry recovered six firearms, along with marijuana, crack cocaine, and a kilogram of powdered cocaine.

Additional cocaine was found in Texas intended for delivery to Staten Island. Gang members operated international drug trafficking routes from Canada, Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Texas. District Attorney Daniel Donovan said that the weapons were shipped north from Georgia.

Thirty-three defendants were indicted on various crimes including conspiring to commit murder, attempted murder, and larceny in addition to drug and weapons charges, according to The Epoch Times. City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said that some of the defendants had "histories so violent that they include running over rivals in a motor vehicle."
