Pandurii, established in 1963, is the only Romanian football financed by trade unions, mining unions. The club, which is state owned, has two sponsors, the Riviera Group from Portugal and Energy Holding. Marin Condescu, a union leader, is the club president and, although investigated, has remained out of troubleted. Now he is under investigation for player transfers. Condescu, because he controls the votes of many clubs, also controls who could be elected as the president of the Romanian Football Association.
