Universitatea - Craiova

Founded in 1948, Universitatea was part of the University of Craiova until the mid 1990’s. It has won four championships, most recently in 1991. After several takeovers Universitatea is now ruled by a company owned by former fan leader Adrian Mititelu.

That company, Fotbal Club U Craiova, was founded in 2002 with 43 percent of shares controlled by Mititelu’s children – ages 5 and 11.

In late 2007, the General Prosecutors’ Office under the Supreme Court of Justice opened a €7 million fraud and tax evasion investigation tCo of Mititelu’s companies based on the claims of the Craiova County Financial Administration.
