Go Behind the Scenes of our OpenLux Investigation With Journalists Antonio Baquero and Maxime Vaudano

By OCCRP

OCCRP editor Antonio Baquero and Le Monde journalist Maxime Vaudano will discuss the far-reaching impact of our OpenLux investigation, which made headlines around the world, in a live webinar on April 7 at 11:30 a.m. EDT/5:30 p.m. CEST. The event will last 45 minutes to an hour.

Our OpenLux project uncovered years of dubious financial activity involving celebrities, organized crime groups, and people with political connections that had been hidden for years thanks to Luxembourg’s corporate secrecy laws. After Le Monde journalists scraped the data from Luxembourg’s corporate register and uploaded it into OCCRP Aleph, our investigative data platform, it became fully searchable for the first time. Then, a global team of journalists got to work investigating the names and companies in the database. In collaboration with 16 media outlets and scores of reporters, we found several instances of elites hiding their business activities from the authorities and public scrutiny.

Join this webinar if you’re interested in how secretive jurisdictions facilitate financial crime, how our global network of journalists uncovered illicit money flows, and why our findings matter for effectively implementing new corporate transparency requirements in the EU and U.S.

This event is open to OCCRP Accomplices. You can make a donation here to become an accomplice in our fight for truth and justice. Contributions go directly to funding our global network of investigative journalists.

Membership also comes with other benefits, like access to webinars and behind-the-scenes information on investigations.
