James O'Brien

Based in Cardiff, Wales, James O’Brien joined OCCRP in 2021 as the Head of Design. He oversees all aspects of design and creative direction at the organization, including graphic design, digital design, UX design, interactives, advertising, marketing, and branding.

Prior to joining OCCRP, James was Head of Creative at SureChill, a technology startup that creates vaccine and domestic refrigerators for places around the world that are affected by power-cuts, leading him to travel and work across Kenya, Senegal, and the Middle East, and take part in multiple global startup accelerator programs. James previously worked in online and print publishing, and has a degree in Industrial Design from Brunel University and San Francisco State University. He spends his spare time cooking, painting, cycling, filming, and traveling.
