Nordea is a Swedish bank with more than 10.5 million customers in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia.
The Danish branch of the bank received nearly 200 Laundromat transfers worth more than $44 million between February 2012 and May 2014.
In response to a reporter’s inquiries, Nordea’s representative said that, after this period, the bank “launched a comprehensive program to improve compliance in relation to financial crime.” The bank declined to comment on specific customers and transactions, citing customers’ privacy.
