Johns Hopkins Medicine

Azerbaijani officials and families

John Hopkins Medicine received $12,151 from Metastar Invest in 2012 and 2013 for Yaqub Eyyubov, the first deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan, and his son Emin Eyyubov, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to the Council of Europe.

Based in Baltimore in the US state of Maryland, John Hopkins Medicine describes itself as a global healthcare enterprise worth $8 billion and one of the leading healthcare systems in the US. It claims to unite physicians and scientists from the John Hopkins University School of Medicine with the organizations, professionals and facilities of The John Hopkins Hospital and Health System.

Emin Eyyubov told OCCRP that Metastar provided him and his family concierge services to arrange medical treatment in the US and Germany. He said that they paid Metastar in Baku, which acted as an agent.
