The raids took place in dozens of locations in and around the Polish capital, including the town of Grodzisk Mazowiecki, where the drug factory was located. The police detained 30 people and sized 10 tons of chemicals used in the production of synthetic drugs, over 10 kilograms of amphetamines and cocaine, weapons, large amounts of cash, falsified documents, 100 of liters of smuggled liquor, and two stolen cars. The drug factory, located 40 kilometers from Warsaw, had three assembly lines for synthetic drug production.
CBS estimated that the dismantled organized crime group “could have put over 1500 kilograms of marijuana, 700 kilograms of amphetamines, 400 kilograms of cocaine, and tens of thousands of ecstasy pills on the market.” They also believe the drugs were mostly made for the domestic market.
The suspects will be charged with production and sale of drugs, smuggling of drug precursor chemicals, and belonging to an organized crime group. They could face up to 12 years in prison.
