The Journalism Development Network, Inc. (JDN) is a Maryland-based 501©3 non-profit journalism organization dedicated to improving investigative reporting and newsroom management around the world.

It has programs in Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Balkans, Latin America and the Middle East/North Africa.

JDN also operates a non-profit European subsidiary called JDN Europe based in Bucharest.

Journalism

JDN is operates the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), an award-winning, non-profit investigative news organization and innovator in investigative reporting. OCCRP reports on organized crime and corruption with more than 20 international partners.

JDN has helped start or used as a model by more than a dozen investigative reporting organizations around the world including the Centar za istrazivacko novinarstvo in Sarajevo (CIN), the Centar za istrazivacko novinarstvo in Serbia (CINS) and the RISE Project in Bucharest among others.

JDN's projects have won dozens of awards internationally including the Global Shining Light (3 times), the Online Journalism Award (twice), the Tom Renner Award for Crime Reporting (3 times), and the Daniel Pearl Award (twice) along with many others.

Innovation

Development

JDN also works in media development around the world creating some of the most innovative and successful projects in the industry. JDN’s philosophy is that development work should be done by journalists for journalists.
