Having produced more than 100 cross-border investigations informing more than six million readers in 2018 on our web site alone, OCCRP is one of the world’s largest investigative reporting organizations. Headquartered in Sarajevo and with a staff of over 100 employees around the world, we serve as an investigative reporting platform providing an array of critical services and editorial coordination to support a global network of 45 independent media centers across 35 countries. Through focused tech development, we are also working to equip journalists and the wider public with cutting-edge tools to follow the money, distill webs of relationships, and accelerate public access to actionable information.

OCCRP is seeking an experienced and dynamic Strategic Communications Officer to lead the organization’s external communications, expand our reach, and build wider understanding of the unique ways we work to expose cross-border criminality and corruption. This is a new position intended to devote full-time talent to telling our story and amplifying our mission.

This position will report to the Chief of Global Partnerships and Policy and work closely with our Engagement Editor, Development Officer, multimedia team, and across our editorial and tech teams to gather gripping material and develop public-facing products at a pivotal time for OCCRP’s strategic expansion. This role will also liaise with our growing web team to improve how we present ourselves and our products online.

A successful candidate will be a crackerjack writer and bring a unique combination of passion for the mission, design acumen, and clear ability to see the forest and the trees. Familiarity with anti-corruption, press freedom, and international development issues strongly preferred.
