Location: This position is initially intended to be based in OCCRP’s current headquarters in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina with a focus on Eastern Europe and The CIS region. Other locations may be considered for highly experienced reporters.

Description

OCCRP is seeking a dynamic International editor to lead the team of cross-border reporters on the impact stories examining the link between organized crime and corruption and environmental degradation / the destruction of environment and biodiversity. The stories will investigate the role of organized crime and corrupt politicians in the exploitation and destruction of the environment, the undermining of regulations to allow for the exploitation of natural resources, the failure of governments to curtail destructive and illegal practices, and the use of bribery to make natural resources available to organized crime or corrupt individual practitioners.

Besides working with OCCRP reporters on environment-related stories in the target countries, the international editor will also explore cooperation with on-the-ground groups, such as CSOs and other stakeholders that have contributed towards addressing issues of national and local-level institution building/strengthening and policy change. The purpose of the cooperation will be to discuss findings of the stories and promote their on-the-ground impact.
