The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project is one of the world’s largest and most innovative investigative reporting organizations. Headquartered in Sarajevo, and with a staff of over 100 employees around the world, our network of independent media centers in over two dozen countries produces ground-breaking cross-border investigative stories.

In just the last few years, we’ve published the Panama Papers, the Gupta Leaks, the Troika, Azerbaijani, and Russian Laundromats, and many other large, collaborative, investigative projects.

We want to reinvent investigative reporting — and we need you. OCCRP is looking for an experienced Head of Infrastructure to handle OCCRP’s organisational IT infrastructure, while also supporting our member centres with some of their technical needs. This role is responsible for managing the IT infrastructure team, ensuring the organisation has the technical systems it needs to operate efficiently and securely.

This is a leadership position within our Technology Department. You will ensure the smooth running of system administration, with comprehensive monitoring, timely back-ups and regular updates, including secure hosting of all OCCRP websites, internal services and security infrastructure, as well as dozens of member centre websites/ services. You will be responsible for making sure staff have the communication tools they need to do their jobs securely, and work with our Security Analyst to protect OCCRP’s information and data. You will work with our web team to ensure that our publishing infrastructure is running and up to date. You will supportively manage a small team with cross functional responsibilities to deliver all of the above. You will work alongside other departments to ensure they have what they need. Juggling a full plate while effectively prioritizing is key to this role. You will also work to co-develop the tech strategy as the organisation changes and matures.

Required experience

We don’t expect applicants to be familiar with every technology we use. We do expect you to be comfortable with a subset of the following: Debian-based GNU/Linux distributions, docker/docker-compose, nginx, zabbix, GnuPG and the broader ecosystem around it, git, Gitlab (including CI/CD pipelines), MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Salt Stack, Jekyll, WordPress, Joomla. We use the following programming languages in our work: Bash, Python, Ruby with a splash of Java/JavaScript/Lua.

To apply, please apply with a resume and cover letter at jobs(at)occrp.org by 14 June, 2020. We regret that we are not able to reply to unsuccessful candidates.
