The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) is a growing, global nonprofit media organization that is reinventing investigative journalism for the public good. By developing and equipping a global network of investigative journalists and publishing their stories, we expose crime and corruption so the public can hold power to account. We see a future where organized crime and corruption are drastically reduced and democracy is strengthened. Our global team includes editors, researchers, data engineers, security specialists, administrators, technologists, and strategists, each with areas of in-depth expertise.

Position Overview

OCCRP is hiring a cybercrime editor. This is a new position focused on supporting our investigations at the intersection of organized crime and cybercrime. We’re looking for a talented, and tenacious editor with experience reporting on how criminals conduct nefarious activities in the digital world. Our goal is to expand our reporting in this area and to steer our journalists and reporting into new terrain. We want someone with experience investigating topics such as digital money laundering techniques, cryptocurrencies, ransomware, surveillance, identity theft. Experience tracking criminal cybercrime gangs is a plus. You must be willing to get your hands dirty undertaking some investigative work yourself, as well as pointing reporters in the right direction, coordinating projects, and augmenting our reporting.
