Looking to develop your editorial, organizational, and investigative skills while working for one of the world’s largest and most effective investigative reporting organizations? The Journalism Development Network (JDN), trading as the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), is hiring a coordinating editor for our Sarajevo office.
We’re looking for a talented, ambitious, and tenacious colleague to help us run (and improve) JDN’s unique — and uniquely challenging — editorial workflow.
The core editorial team in Sarajevo commissions and accepts stories from a network of member centers, regional editors, and freelance journalists that stretches across the world. The production of those stories requires rapid, effective coordination with their authors and originating editors, as well as OCCRP’s other departments, such as security, technology, data, and research.
The coordinating editor will be responsible for helping the managing editor and deputy managing editor oversee the story intake process, as well as the remainder of the editorial workflow, from editing to layout, translation, layout, publication, and promotion. There is ample growth opportunity in this position: The more you’re able to take on, the better.
This position is not for everybody. But if you’re hungry, a self-starter, tolerant of ambiguity, able to improvise, and graceful under pressure, we want to hear from you. Let OCCRP become a decisive next step in your journalistic career.
If you’re interested, please send a resume, cover letter, and several clips or writing samples to jobs[at]occrp.org by August,18 2019.
