Philippine immigration authorities have arrested a 29-year-old South Korean woman wanted in her home country for allegedly helping operate 23 illegal online gambling websites that generated about 5.33 trillion won ($3.9 billion), the country’s Bureau of Immigration said.
Kim Youngsun was detained on August 7 in General Trias, Cavite, in an operation coordinated with South Korean authorities and the Philippine National Police. The Incheon District Court issued a warrant for her arrest in April 2025, and Interpol published a Red Notice two months later. Authorities allege that Kim worked as an assistant manager and supervised several units of the gambling operation, which was run from offices in Pasay and Quezon City beginning in 2018. She is being held at the Bureau of Immigration’s Warden Facility pending custodial proceedings.
OCCRP asked the Philippine Bureau of Immigration to forward a request for comment to Kim but had not received a response by the time of publication.
